Mailchimp, the email marketing and newsletter giant owned by Intuit, experienced a second security breach in the past six months. An intruder accessed one of their internal tools which exposed customer data from 133 accounts, including WooCommerce, an e-commerce platform with over five million customers. This breach appears to be almost exactly the same as the one in August of last year, which compromised credentials of customer support staff and data from 214 accounts. Mailchimp stated they had implemented enhanced security measures after the August incident, however it is unclear if they were implemented properly. The company is also currently without a chief information security officer as chief Siobhan Smyth has stepped down. This latest breach serves as a reminder for companies to remain vigilant and strengthen their security measures.
